I literally fell out of my chair just a few moments ago watching Chris Matthews bring on Doug Nick, one of the authors of the law banning Ethnic Studies, and he argued with a straight face that the ban is because offending books like Paolo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed teach students to segregate themselves into racial enclaves and to seek to return the border states to Aztlan. The second offending book he mentions is Rodolfo Acuna's Occupied America: A History of the Chicano People
And this Doug Nick who co-authored the ban is the Federal Liaison at the Arizona Department of Education? These are the people deciding the direction of education for our children.
